Assets for Seminar Chapter
Spoon Integrations
I added the physical visual representation of a spoon into one of my abstract compositions. I started with just the one, as I'm unsure how I feel about it, and also don't really know how to approach the others without making them too repetitive.
Thesis Show Postcard Concepts – 3/31/25
Here is my attempt at making the exhibition postcards. I provided two black and white variants but I'm also open to implementing color if we decide to go with these.

Revised Banner & Doorway Exhibition Layout – 3/27/25
After today's session, I made changes to my banner. I scaled it down to 18 inches by 107 inches and made two versions that have different slightly rhythms. I think I like the first one better because the transition is more seamless between colors but I included the other option in case people feel differently.
I revisited my exhibition layout to see what it would look like if I put my stuff in between the gallery doors. My space would measure about 25 feet wide. Personally, I really like how it looks and would love to take the space if no one has a problem with it.

Visual Ethos
Thinking on "Mind and Medium" and the power of Stimuli in the way we advertise.
"Mind and Medium" suggests that the design world has a Yin and a Yang, which are above-ground design, and underground design: "Above-ground" being that which is official, commercial, trustworthy, and of high quality, and "Underground" being messy, risky, experimental, and cheap. You'll notice these key differences in the design ethos from art for activism versus art in propaganda. When making art for propaganda's sake, you want to use visual ethos to exploit an audience's idea of a trustworthy source. Where Stimuli comes into play is what I find interesting. Stimuli refers to the activation of a sense
"Material and Mind" is another source I was looking at, and some ideas interested me, including:
-an individual's agency being enabled (or disabled) by the presence (or lack thereof) of objects and materials,
-the mind's ability to extend beyond itself, as if it does not inhabit its vessel yet becomes a vessel in its own right,
-and to envision the un-material (the abstract), including but not limited to: imagination, projection, and mathematics.
With these in mind, I wanted to adapt evidence of materials I had documented and gathered to create different types of stimulating imagery that marries Yin and Yang Design to talk about the presence of objects that are a result of a variety of "consumption" and how they affect our thoughts.
These could turn into posters, but I wouldn't mind using them as spreads in a zine.
Exhibition Mockup Revision
I swapped the way the stuff on the right would be hung so it gives my show name more space, lowered the shelf, and added images of most of the things there, and spaced the three sections a little more evenly. I've got the dimensions set to a 10ft tall wall (White) 2 ft overhang (gray) and a 25ft long section
Zine Data Update
I have recorded more data from zines and added them to the spreadsheet and collage below. I set up the return box with a couple of zines in the hallway to collect more submissions. I have about 20 more zines left to add, which will probably come from friends and family.
Exhibition Banner Progress - 3/26/25
Instead of going to our concentration meeting, I decided to use today to create my exhibition banner. It measures 20 inches by 119 inches so it goes all the way from the ceiling to the floor. Every AI type, image, sign, and hybrid sign solution is included within a six column grid. There's still one hybrid sign I need to find so I can replace the black square towards the bottom.
